CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION PARISH COUNCIL MEETING 4/19/2006 Roll call: Janet Payton, Tony Kuhel, Bob Schultek, Katie Burke, Jacki Calavitta, Sandy Patrick, Judie Melillo, Louise Cox, Fr. Mark, Lisa Frey, Terry Battaglia, Meg Matuska. Absent: Joe Schlanser, David Pastor, Mike Peterson. Faith Sharing: We were encouraged to share our spiritual and personal family experiences from the Easter season. Lots of very touching stories emerged. Minutes Approved: and were seconded from the meeting held March 15, 2006, as issued on March 28, 2006. Bob then reviewed the agenda for this meeting. Discussion Items: Financial Review – Dennis Bodziony of the Parish Finance Council presented a comprehensive overview of parish financial status from the start of the current fiscal year to date, including pledges, weekly offertory and debt structure. It was agreed that a conservative and sound financial approach is working. VPL2 – Katie Burke, chairperson of the committee, stated that at a regional diocesan meeting held April 5, that specific information, guidelines, detailed timeline and educational materials were obtained. There is an October 1 due date for our parish proposals for clustering. She stated that Annette Gromada would also be joining the group, bringing the total of discerned members to 15. The first official meeting for this committee will be on Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. following the evening Mass. In the materials disseminated at this meeting, it stated that 2 subcommittees – development of clustering proposals, and education would operate simultaneously within the structure. The role of the Leadership Team was discussed – was this a separate oversight group or is this a function of Parish Council (including of course, the Pastoral Team). After much discussion, it was decided that Parish Council would assume this responsibility. Final proposals, if there are any financial implications, would be reviewed with the Finance Committee. Parish Council Discernment Process – Parish Council members should be available after Masses in the social center the weekends of April 22/23 and 29/30. Weekend speakers will give a 2 to 3 minute speech May 6/7 as follows: Jacki Calavitta 5:30 on May 6, Bob Schultek at 9:00 and Judie Melillo at 11:00 on May 7. The initial discernment meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 (1/2 hour before PC meeting begins), with the final discernment meeting held a week later at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24. Please advise Judie, Sandy or Bob of any potential new members. Judie will be going off after the current year ends. Bob, Louise, Joe, and Jacki will be discerning for another two year term. Committee Reports – It was decided to poll Parish Council members on their participation prior to any major parish events, so as to ensure adequate representation. Meg mentioned that the next Concert will be held on Friday, May 12, at 8:00 p.m.
