CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
12/5/2005

SUMMARY NOTES

Bob led the prayer and faith sharing.  We were asked to share our fears about “clustering.”

Roll call:  Bob Schultek, Louise Cox, Tony Kuhel, Mike Peterson, Joe Schlanser, Jacki Calavitta, Sandy Patrick, Katie Burke, Fr. Mark, Lisa Frey, Terry Battaglia, Janet Payton, David Pastor.  Absent:  Judie Melillo, Meg Matuska

Minutes from the previous meeting were distributed & approved.  Bob reviewed the agenda.

Fr. Mark shared his experiences from a recent meeting of local pastors, and his perception that most of this group already had an idea that they were a cluster.  Then, Bob distributed and reviewed a draft set of requirements & responsibilities to establish expectations for those interested in serving on the subcommittee to generate cluster recommendations by the “end of Lent.”  This led to a discussion of the document’s points, suggestions were made, and it was agreed that Council would remain responsible for this project, with a subcommittee driving the work but reporting to Council & the Parish Team.  Attached is a revised document w/ the suggestions & comments added.

Discernment for the subcommittee happened quickly with Katie, Jacki, Tony & Mike agreeing to represent Council on the Committee, with Katie serving as Chairperson.

Next, there was a discussion about how to add other members to the subcommittee.  The names of individual parishioners were gathered and it was decided that a bulletin announcement would be added for this weekend.  Katie will draft something & distribute.

Terry gave an update on the rescheduled Big Picture for this Friday; it continues to draw many folks.  And she asked for our prayers for the Jones family since Brian is experiencing a relapse of leukemia.  Jacki also requested our prayers for Vincent Mellilo, Judie's new grandson, who is struggling for life.

Fr. Mark stated that the part-time custodian was resigning and would be replaced w/ a full-time person who would also clean.

Upcoming events:

A live nativity scene will be featured on Saturday, December 17, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Schultek
