Review
of Agenda for Today’s Meeting: Done by Bob Shultek
Learning
and Enrichment: Presented by Janet Payton, was overview of Collaborative
Ministry: Uniting our Gifts in Ministry. It underscored the Church’s
views on collaboration with an honest approach of not only its importance
for our future growth as a spiritual community, but the complexities
and sometimes difficulty of coming together for common good as we
are called by our baptismal rite. This discernment of individual
gifts on a spiritually-guided team applies both to our VPL2 project,
as well as our roles on Parish Council.
Discussion Items:
VPL2 – Bob Shultek shared a letter he received from the Diocese
concerning developments of this project. He called on Chairperson Katie
Burke to give an update of events. She stated as a result of the bulletin
announcement, several parishioners have stepped forward to join the
group. She had also spoken with Rick Krivanka who advised that a final
outline with diocesan guidelines will be sent by the end of Lent, with
proposals due back by the end of September. It was also agreed that
the Pastoral Team would furnish a list of possible members in the next
few weeks, so that the group would be finalized by early February.
Depending on the number of potential members, it may or may not be
necessary to have a discernment process. Father Mark interjected that
we should all keep in mind we are more of a “magnet” than
a “territorial” parish in whatever recommendations this
group may develop.
It was recommended that an interim meeting be held to bring any non-PC
members up to speed (or in the very least provide them information
in advance). Tentative goal: have this education process complete by
mid-February and a discernment meeting (if needed) by the end of February.
The first committee meeting would be around April 5.
Upcoming Events/Calendar - We will have a calendar ready by next meeting
through August, so that we can prevent scheduling conflicts. March
29 is the date of our next Big Picture event (NOTE: 1 day only due
to availability of speaker).
Reporting Items:
Personnel: Fr. Mark reviewed recent changes, with new full-time custodian,
new part-time receptionist, promotion of Diane to facilities manager.
RCIA: good group of new candidates this year, per Janet.
Sensus Fidelium: Bob S. to start initiative to define our needs.
Wellness Committee: Per Lisa, is sponsoring Ministry of Presence training
sessions during January, with about 25 participants.
Hospitality Committee: Making plans for Mardi Gras celebration on February
28, includes adult and children’s activities, pancake supper.
Fr. Mark announced that there will be 2 sets of windows installed during
Easter week, in memory of Marty Mazanec and Ken Mitchell.
