Grounded in the philosophy that music is essential to the life of the liturgy, our many music ministries focus on leading the assembly in prayer and in song. We believe that our voices sing to rehearse for the Reign of God.
Our repertoire spans from the early Church’s Gregorian Chant with a lean towards more contemporary literature and everything in between. We sing music from many nations, cultures, and styles, not only to better welcome and include the members of our assembly from different cultural backgrounds, but also to expand our perspective of the world church and its musical tradition of two thousand years.
We invite you to consider becoming a member of one of our music ministries full of prayer, community and musical joy...
The Resurrection Adult Choir
The adult choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 PM, September through Pentecost and occasionally during the summer. High-school age singers are welcome. Members of the choir attend whatever mass they wish each weekend; repertoire is the same at all liturgies. The choir comes together to sing several times during the year, including all major liturgical feasts and holidays as well as selected Sunday liturgies. Please join us! No prior singing or choral experience is necessary – only a love for music.
The Resurrection Choristers
The Choristers are in grades 3-8 and rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-6:15 PM, September through Pentecost. This is a treble voice choir; boys with changed voices may join the adult choir. The choristers sing at major holidays as well as selected Sunday liturgies throughout the year. The choir has participated in two National Association of Pastoral Musicians Children's Choir Festivals, traveling to Rochester, New York, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Resurrection Cantor Ministry
Our cantors consist of the highest quality of voices in our ministry. Their primary role is to be leaders of song, proclaimers of the psalm and occasionally soloists. Cantors are on a rotating schedule, based on availability. Rehearsals are not regularly scheduled, but can be on individual cantor basis.
The Resurrection Instrumentalists
The instrumentalists in our ministry add a certain color and flair to our sung prayer. Instruments span from flute and violin to trumpet and oboe. An intermediate level of playing and reading is required. Rehearsals are not regularly scheduled, but can be on an individual basis.
The Resurrection Youth Ensemble
This group is composed of high school aged parishioners who gather only for certain liturgical occasions. Rehearsals are only scheduled prior to these events. Singers and instrumentalists join together to form this group!
Please contact Mark Ehrbar, Director of Music Ministries for more information and how to become part of one of the ministries!
