Parish Service Day Committee
The Parish Service Day Committee plans and coordinates our annual Parish Service Day, held each year on the Saturday immediately following Labor Day in September. For the past ten years, this special day has brought our community together in faith-filled action, serving approximately 18–20 local social service agencies and community organizations.
The committee begins its work in March each year identifying service sites, organize projects, and collaborate with our ministry leaders and partner churches in the area. Many of the opportunities are family-friendly, making the day a meaningful experience for parishioners of all ages to live out the Gospel through hands-on service.
Each year about 150–175 parishioners participate, serving as ambassadors offering their time and talent in a wide variety of projects — from outdoor clean-up of the homes of elderly people in the area, sorting books at the Children’s Book Bank, making PB & J sandwiches for the homeless who come to St. Malachi’s back door, to crafts with people at area nursing facilities, sorting food and doing a fall clean up at the community Garden at the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center to outreach, support, and care for those in need. The committee strives to ensure that every participant feels welcomed, prepared, and inspired to serve.
Parish Service Day is more than a single event — it is a visible sign of our parish commitment to compassion, community partnership, and putting faith into action. If you are interested in learning more about our Parish Service Day please reach out to Tom Schneck via email.
This year’s Parish Service Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, 8 am-12 noon.
